Specialist experience in Ophthalmology

Alan Fitt graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1990. He did his postgraduate training in Ophthalmology from 1992 to 2001, initially in Middlesbrough and Newcastle then, as a Specialist Registrar, in the West Midlands, based at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre.

Towards the end of his training, he gained experience in vitreoretinal surgery, initially at Wolverhampton and then as a vitreoretinal fellow at Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre.

From 2001-2015 Mr Fitt was the vitreoretinal specialist at Peterborough District, later known as the new City Hospital. In 2015 he left the Trust at Peterborough to work part-time (due to family reasons). Since 2017 he has been the Vitreoretinal specialist at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, based at their Lincoln site.

Mr Fitt sees and treats private patients at the Fitzwilliam Hospital in Peterborough, mainly those with Cataracts.

Outside work he enjoys playing golf, squash and racquetball.
He is delighted and excited to have started work as the vitreoretinal specialist at The Stoneygate Eye Hospital. He will be treating problems such as macular hole, epiretinal membrane, vitreomacular traction, diabetic eye diseases which require surgical treatment, and some complications of cataract surgery such as lens implant problems.

For self-pay patients: The cost of a consultation will not exceed £200, whilst any additional follow-up appointments not already included within the price of surgery will not exceed £115.
