Mr Periyasamy Kumar has special interest in development of immunomodulation therapy in uveitis. He also has research interest in contrast enhanced ocular ultrasound.

Mr Kumar has established Ultrasound Bio-microscopy Service at Leicester Royal Infirmary, which provides regional service for adults and children in anterior and posterior segment ocular ultrasound in complex ocular disorders.

Mr Kumar has completed fellowship training in uveitis and medical retina from world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

Mr Kumar treats patients with ocular inflammation, provides treatment for various medical retinal disorders including age-related macular degeneration and retinal vascular disorders. He is involved in running a busy full time clinical service at the University Hospitals of Leicester. Which includes clinical work, training junior doctors and allied clinical professionals, research and educational activities.

Mr Kumar has extensive experience in general ophthalmology and cataract surgery and he speaks the following languages:

English, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada.

Consultation Fees

For self-pay patients:

The cost of a consultation will not exceed £180, whilst any additional follow-up appointments not already included within the price of surgery will not exceed £100.

For privately-insured patients:

The following costs are billed to your insurance company. The cost of a consultation will not exceed £204, whilst any additional follow-up appointments not already included within the price of surgery will not exceed £144. For any follow up appointments arranged outside of your insurance cover, these are billed at the standard self-pay patient rate.

The Stoneygate Eye Hospital is owned by the LLP run by consultants and their services are paid for. All six consultant directors own an equal share of the LLP, equalling 16.66% per head.
