Mr Empeslidis is a Consultant Ophthalmologist in Medical Retina at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and an Honourary Senior Lecturer at the University Hospitals of Leicester, Leicester, UK.
Mr Empeslidis has been trained in Greece and the UK and has a fellowship in Medical Retina. Additionally, he has undertaken further training in uveitis. Mr Empeslidis is the leading Consultant Ophthalmologist of the busy ARMD service at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and has been awarded the prestigious Clinical Excellence Award from the Macula Society UK in 2013.
Mr Empeslidis is extremely active in research and he is currently the Principal Investigator of several randomised controlled trials in retinal disorders such as ARMD, diabetic retinopathy, vein occlusions and uveitis. Mr Empeslidis is actively publishing in peer reviewed journals and has trained over a dozen fellows over the last few years. He has also organised the Leicester OCT course running once a year. Furthermore, he is instrumental in organising a local retina group of retina specialists in the east midlands area of England.

The Stoneygate Eye Hospital is owned by the LLP run by consultants and their services are paid for. All six consultant directors own an equal share of the LLP, equalling 16.66% per head.
